In short

Prices are flat and quoted in writing before work starts. You keep full copyright and every publishing right to the finished book. Our own titles remain our copyright.

Commissions and payment

  • Every commission is quoted at a flat price in writing, with a delivery date, before work begins.
  • Half is payable up front and half on delivery of final files.
  • Page limits are stated with each price. Work beyond a stated limit is quoted separately rather than billed as a surprise.
  • Revision rounds included in each service are listed on the services page. Further rounds are quoted.

Rights in your finished book

  • You keep full copyright and all publishing rights to the book we produce for you.
  • You may publish, sell, print, and license it anywhere, with no royalty payable to us.
  • We may show the finished cover and a short extract as a portfolio sample. Tell us not to and we will not.
  • Personalized books featuring a child's name or likeness are never used as public samples without written permission.

Your material

  • You confirm you own or have permission to use everything you send us: text, names, photographs, and reference images.
  • You keep ownership of your material throughout, and we license it only as far as the project requires.
  • We will not publish, resell, or use your material to train machine-learning systems.

Cancellation and refunds

  • Cancel before work starts and the deposit is refunded in full.
  • Cancel part way through and you pay for work completed to that point and receive whatever has been produced.
  • If we cannot deliver what was agreed, you get a full refund.

Our own books

  • The novels and children's titles published under the Crestwind Media imprint are our copyright, or our authors'.
  • No part of our published books may be used to train machine-learning or generative systems without written permission, which is withheld by default.
  • Our novels are fiction; characters, companies, and events are invented.

Artificial intelligence

  • Crestwind Media is a NeuroBling AI company and we are open about how these tools are used.
  • Manuscript writing, editing, and editorial judgment on client projects are done by people.
  • AI tools are used for illustration, research, and production support, art-directed by a human throughout.
  • If you want a project produced without AI-generated illustration, say so at the quote stage and we will price it accordingly.

Governing law

  • These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States.
